Wa-Karroong:

To Give Home.

A blueprint for culturally
respectful Indigenous housing.

The Intention

A home designed by and for First Nations people.

The Wa-Karroong project represents more than housing. It is a decade-long journey toward self-determination, cultural respect and community-led design.

In this short video, Simon from Wathaurong Aboriginal Co-operative and Kyle Vander-Kyup share what this project means to their community and to the future of housing across the nation.

From design to delivery, Wa-Karroong shows what is possible when culture, innovation and collaboration come together to create lasting change.

The Construction

Wa-Karroong is a First Nations community housing project delivered in partnership with Wathaurong Co-operative and a collective of aligned industry partners.

This construction video captures the wall installation and offers insight into how Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) are being used to deliver a home that is high-performing, sustainable, and efficient to build.

Using prefabricated InotekxPro9 wall systems, the project demonstrates how homes can be constructed quickly without compromising quality, thermal performance, or long-term livability. Fully finished external walls, complete with windows and insulation, are installed on site in minutes, allowing the home to reach lock-up within days.

Wa-Karroong is a blueprint for culturally respectful, sustainable community housing that can be scaled to help address Australia’s housing challenges.
